Window displays

Thought you may want to peek into my window displays for the month.  The first one is a picnic/beach theme and features a 1950's swimsuit.  If you are into pin-up girls or Hollywood glam, this one may be for you.

The second window features a back to school theme with some Dick and Jane books and others.  The black globe is an art deco style and quite large.  I took this from my collection. (can't keep things forever, right?). The store is also packed with many many vintage items and clothing.  Something for everyone.   Until next time,                    Shirley

Fried Green Tomatoes free lunch

What a nice surprise it was to get yet another free lunch.  This time from Fried Green Tomatoes which happens to be just across the street from my shop.  This was a Tuscan salad, they even brought a bread stick and a bottle of cold water.  Let me tell you it was delicious!  I would recommend it, especially with the hot weather we have been having.  So refreshing.
I have had other food from there and everything has been fabulous to say the least.  I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a great meal with great atmosphere.  Thank you Fried Green!!!!

Cousins

Last weekend I had the honor of meeting a group of awesome ladies.  They were on their annual trek of shopping and they all had their poodle skirts on.  They were all cousins and were kind enough to let me take a picture of them.  Have fun ladies!!
A lot of groups come in to my store.  Some are sisters, cousins, classmates and bridal parties.  What fun that could be!  Get together some of your friends and come to Galena, lots to do.  Don't forget to stop in and say hi.                                               Shirley

The Checkers Table

I just love my checkers table!  This came in handy when the grandchildren were all here.  Sam and Grandpa and others had fun playing a game of checkers on it.  Here they are sitting on the porch having fun.
When mealtime came and the house was full of people it came in handy for the children to sit in their little vintage chairs and eat their yummy meal.  ( Potlucks are so much fun aren't they? ).
After the familys went home the table looked so empty! :(    I miss them all!

When the weather turns cold I will be using this as a coffee table in the living room.  Who knows, perhaps Grandpa and myself will play a game of checkers too!!!!                             Grandma Shirley
