Social Networking in Galena Illinois

Some days I'm using the fan for a cool breeze in the afternoon and then kicking on the furnace in the evening? I'm looking forward to the extended warmer days.  How about you?

Did you read the article on the Yahoo travel blog in regards to cities all across the U.S. that are anchored by a distinctive Main Street?  Galena, IL made the list.  Click here to read the article in it's entirety.

Are you a business owner in Galena, IL?  Have you ever attended the Social Media Meetings that are held the first Tuesday once a month?  Tomorrow night I'll be at the Grape Escape at 242 N. Main to meet with fellow shop owners to learn how to improve networking through social media in a effort to bring people to Galena.

If you can't attend tomorrow's meeting, think about one in the future.

Vintage Melmac

Remember Melmac?  Yes, it was also the planet that Alf was from.  A television series from the 80's. I don't have any Alf's in the shop, but I do carry several colors and patterns of Melmac.

If you would like to watch the first episode (short version) of Alf, click here.

Have a great week!

Vintage Games and Mixed Media Art

Are you a mixed media artist looking for interesting and colorful graphics?  Or perhaps your searching for an alternative from the electronics for family night.  I've got plenty for both of you. Here's a little sample of the vintage games I have in the shop.  A vintage Battleship game just left with a customer who was excited that the game was made the same year he was born.  There's a Bingo game from 1941 and how about an All in The Family board game?  Stop in and browse through the selection.

Have a good week.

Window Shopping in Galena, Illinois

Window shopping is always fun, right? These ladies seem to be enjoying my displays. You will miss them if you don't check them out each month as I change them with each passing month.

This month I plan to do a special tribute to my mom who passed away shortly after I opened the shop.  I'm so glad she got to see it while she was still able.  That meant a lot to me.

Today marks my 2nd anniversary of my opening day.  NO FOOLING!!!  I hope to make some changes in my decor and have been bringing in new items weekly.  My Daughter Jennifer has got the bug and she has been finding some awesome items also.  If you haven't seen her handmade cards you really need to.  She is a regular shutterbug!

New signage in the windows coming soon also.  (time restraints are such a bother)

Can't wait for the summer season to start. I plan to put a lot of miles on my car this year to find some one-of-a-kind item just for you!

Stop in when you can, will be extending my opening days soon.
